Following a multi-million pound investment by Cathedral Square’s new owners, Worcester’s foodies can look forward to seven brand new restaurants, including Byron Hamburgers, Ask, Cosy Club, and Miller and Carter!
The first phase of the scheme is open now, and when it’s complete it will overlook a new public square in front of the cathedral, with remodelled shop units and a gym. The new public open square is being created in partnership with Worcester City and Worcestershire County Councils.
Ahead of the wave of new eateries, we’ve taken a look at one of the new additions that Worcester can look forward to!
Born in London in 2007, Byron’s Hamburgers came to be when founder Tom Byng noticed there weren’t any restaurants offering hamburgers like those he’d loved in America. So the idea for Byron was born: to do a simple thing well, and do it properly.
The team at Byron take four cuts of properly sourced British beef. They mince it fresh and cook it medium so it’s pink, juicy and succulent. They place it in a soft, squishy bun with minimum fuss and fanfare. They serve it with a smile in a comfortable environment. And that’s it.

The Byron Burger is a must-try dish – a 6oz hamburger, dry cure bacon, mature cheddar, shredded iceberg, tomato, red onion and special secret Byron sauce! You can make your burger your own with added extras – how about dry cure bacon, cheese, sliced avocado, roasted red pepper or Portobello mushroom? Partner with a side of French fries and a delicious sauce (choose from a whopping selection: Spicy BBQ sauce, aioli, chipotle mayonnaise, Byron sauce or blue cheese sauce!) and we reckon you’re in for a pretty tasty evening.
