Fields of Battle – Lands of Peace
Fields of Battle – Lands of Peace is a powerful and poignant photographic exhibition by international, award-winning photojournalist, Michael St. Maur Sheil. The healing powers of time and nature are captured in stunning landscape images of the battlegrounds of the First World War, all around the world, as they are today.
Exploring the theme of reconciliation to mark the centenary of armistice, the images highlight the impact of the war on the nations and societies involved; commemorating the role played by people of diverse races and creeds in what was the first truly global armed conflict.
This major open-air exhibition seeks to introduce the public to the events and issues of the First World War. More than 50 images are presented on a large and impressive scale. 22,000 words of text and fascinating facts captivate the viewer, revealing the stories that lie beneath.
This photo exhibition will be at Cathedral Square from Saturday 25th August- Sunday 30th September, and is completely FREE.
We look forward to you joining us for this fantastic event.
