Please welcome Cathedral Square’s newest addition!
Shoppers queued for hours waiting for our new Wilko store to open.
Lines of shoppers extended down the street as the budget store opened today in our new £20 million Cathedral Square.
One shopper, Owen Prince, had been at the shop since 5.15am waiting for the 9am open.
Mr Prince, from Barbourne said: “I really like Wilko as they offer a good range of products at reasonable prices. Worcester needed a Wilko so I am glad we have got the new store. I got here so early just because I wanted to look around.”
Shoppers were wowed by the size of the store, with many quickly making their way over to the pick and mix area.
The mayor of Worcester, Cllr Steve Mackay was on-hand to cut the ribbon to the new store along with Vivienne Bull, from Cancer Research, Wilko retail director Anthony Houghton and Wilko Worcester branch manager Dana Read.
The 14,252 square foot home and garden store gave away 100 gifts, including £5, £10 and £20 gift cards, plus kitchen appliances including a copper kettle, toaster, hand blender and hand mixer.
