Worcester Stands Tall

Get ready for Worcester Stands Tall, a public art event set to take the city by storm!

For 10 weeks this summer, from Monday 9th July to Sunday 16th September, Worcester’s streets, parks and open spaces will be brought to life by giraffes. Individually designed, beautifully created, majestic giraffes as you’ve never seen them before!

Over the 10 weeks, there will be a trail for you to follow around Worcester, which is approximately 6 miles when following the recommended route, within a 1 mile radius of the City Centre. The trail is likely to take approximately 4 hours to complete, but if you find this too much for one day, why not break the trail up into smaller sections over a few days? With approximately 16,500 steps on a pedometer, take a walk on the wild side this summer and have a go at spotting the 30 large sculptures and 27 small sculptures along the way.

When Worcester Stands Tall is completed, the giraffes will be auctioned to raise valuable funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

Why a giraffe?
Giraffes are majestic but elegant, gentle but giant. They are sociable creatures but do not form herds, instead they meet in changing groups each day, rather as we do in our own communities.
Giraffes are the tallest mammals on earth and the collective noun for a group of giraffes is a tower!
The Worcester Stands Tall trail will inspire creativity and generate plenty of fun for all as you follow them on their journey around the city.
