Worcester Cathedral

Iconic medieval cathedral

ABOUT

A sacred space of history, worship, and wonder.

Worcester Cathedral stands as a magnificent testament to over 1,400 years of Christian worship and architectural evolution. Founded in 680 AD, the present structure was initiated by Saint Wulfstan in 1084 and showcases a harmonious blend of Norman and Gothic styles. Notable features include the tombs of King John and Prince Arthur, the early 12th-century chapter house, St Wulfstan’s crypt, medieval cloisters, and exquisite Victorian stained glass windows.

Beyond its architectural splendor, the Cathedral has been a center of learning and music, with a rich heritage that includes connections to composer Edward Elgar and the annual Three Choirs Festival.  Visitors can explore its historic library, attend daily services, or simply find a moment of reflection within its serene spaces. Open daily with free admission, Worcester Cathedral welcomes all to experience its spiritual and historical significance.
